Learning The Truth In Christian Marriage Advice

I think that it is safe to say that being in marriage takes commitment and work. When situations and problems arise, it’s not good to just think that it just wasn’t meant to be and automatically file for divorce. If you really mean what you said in your vows of “Till death do us part”, then it is important that you do everything that you possibly can in order to keep your word. In a Christian marriage, it is important to realize that the couple recognizes that God has brought them together and whatever God has brought together, let no man separate. However, it is true that even in Christian marriages, hard times come around and to some Christians they feel that perhaps divorce is just the only way out. Most Christian couples who feel that their marriage is heading towards the downward spiral end up going to their church leader for some guidance and counselling, and that is a good thing.

I have personally learned so much in my marriage so far. My husband and I are both Christians and we don’t believe that divorce should ever be an option for us. During the times that we went through difficult times, we easily talked to our pastor for some Christian marriage advice, and he gave some wonderful advice. I found it so real and so true. It has also worked so much in my marriage, and so that is why I would like to share some of the advice that I have learned to you.

First, remind one another that the marriage you are in is not just a marriage of two people but a marriage of three with God in the center of it all. Sometimes we forget that God is at the center of the marriage, and so we try to work the marriage out on our own. However, we just end up angry, bitter, and end up hurting our spouse even more.

Second, don’t try to change your spouse. There are so many things that you might want to change in them. Perhaps the method that you have tried to do in order to change them is to just constantly tell them over and over again where their fault is and what they can do better. However, this doesn’t work. Instead, you need to pray for them and pray for yourself as well that God may give you a clearer picture of how He sees your spouse so that you may love him or her the way that God loves them. Remember, only God can bring a change from within.

Third, receive God’s love every day. You can do this by reading the Word of God and praying. You can also do this by being watchful and remind yourself daily on how God loves you and what He has done from you. You see, God is our source of love. We can’t give what we don’t have. That is why you need to constantly tap into the unconditional love of God so that it can overflow from you to your spouse. Your spouse will see the difference and if both of you are doing these three things, then the Christian marriage advice won’t go to waste. So don’t be afraid to get all the Christian marriage advice that you can get. It will surely lead you through it all!
